Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

(HBP)

Prostatic hyperplasia (PH) is defined as the growth of the prostate, which causes symptoms that make it difficult to empty the bladder. This can include straining to urinate, nocturia (nighttime urination), and constant, infrequent urination, leading to acute urinary retention, making it impossible to urinate independently, and causing severe pain. It is a condition that affects men and becomes more common as they age, and symptoms worsen with age.

This growth is due to a disruption of hormonal regulatory factors at the prostate level that cause obstruction of the urinary outflow tract. This growth is benign in most cases, but malignant growth must always be ruled out.

There are several effective treatments for prostatic hyperplasia, including behavioral therapies, medical treatments, minimally invasive therapies, or minimally invasive surgeries using monopolar, bipolar, and laser energy.

Some other symptoms:

-Urgency to urinate

-Increased urination at night

-difficulty starting urination

-Dripping of urine after finishing urinating

-Blood in the urine
