Varicocele
Varicocele is known as a dilation of the papiryngeal plexus located inside the scrotum. This condition affects 10 to 25% of men and is chronic and progressive. The causes of this pathology are multiple; it can be due to a vascular anatomy that predisposes to this disease, increased pressure in the veins, increased blood flow during adolescence, or overexpression of specific proteins. This dilation can cause testicular alterations and sometimes low sperm production and quality.
Clinically it presents
-Pain in the testicles
-Scrotal mass
-testicular heaviness
-Infertility
Treatment is surgical, varicocelectomy, and surgery is only indicated if chronic pain or infertility is present. It is a minimally invasive procedure that is generally performed on an outpatient basis.
